Our History

Founded by Claudia Mangan in 1974, the Rockville Civic Ballet is a City-Managed community arts group. Ms. Mangan established a thriving ballet company for our Rockville Community on the value that ballet belongs to all of us. Members come from all walks of life and work cooperatively to present affordable quality performances. Over the course of our 51 years, the RCB has premiered ballet classes and over 20 original works that range from dance dramas to neoclassical modern works. Our company members dedicate their time and talents months in advance of our performance to bring our community the very best of ballet!

The RCB presented two adapted classics for our 2025 season. The summer production of Alice in Wonderland featured a cast of curious characters! The Queen of Hearts was the only one not having fun.
